PDF Compressor

Reduce the size of a PDF by re-compressing its images, keep the text sharp and searchable, and see the real before and after sizes — all inside your browser.

How it works: the tool finds the JPEG photos inside your PDF and re-saves them at a lower quality and, if they are very large, a smaller size, then repacks the file. Text, vector graphics and fonts are not touched, so the text stays sharp and searchable. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

Up to 100 MB

Savings depend on the file. PDFs that are mostly text, or whose images are already small or stored in other formats, may shrink very little or not at all, and in that case the tool says so instead of giving you a bigger file. Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed.

FAQ

How does it actually reduce the size?
It finds the JPEG images in the PDF, decodes them, shrinks very large ones and saves them again at a lower quality, then repacks the document more compactly. It does not turn pages into pictures, so text stays sharp and searchable.
Why did my PDF barely shrink, or not at all?
Files that are mostly text, or whose images are already small or stored in other formats, have little to gain. When the result would not be smaller, the tool tells you and gives you the original instead of a larger file.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens inside your browser, and the file never leaves your device.
Will image quality suffer?
Photos are saved at lower quality, which is how the size is reduced. Low keeps more quality, Strong makes the smallest file and photos look softer. Try Balanced first.
Can it compress password-protected PDFs?
No. Protected files cannot be processed here. Remove the password first.
What are the limits?
PDFs up to 100 MB. Very large files depend on your device's memory because they are processed in the browser.
